After leaving T\u00fcbingen, we were headed to Eisenburg, near the castles of Neuschwanden (of Disney fame) and Hohenschwangau next door. We took a side trip, not too far out of the way to Hohenzollern Castle, the home of the Prussian Kings.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_5787<\/a>As we were driving, we saw this sight in the distance and thought, \u201cNow that\u2019s a castle!\u201d<\/p>\n

As we got closer, we saw this powered parachute flying near the castle. I couldn\u2019t get a picture with them both together, but I bet the pilot got some good photos!<\/p>\n

We took a shuttle from a parking lot below the castle, and there were a bunch of old Morgan sports cars parked in the lot. When we got to the castle, these were parked in the courtyard. I took these photos with my friend, Roger, in mind.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_5855<\/a>Even with the shuttle, there is quite an uphill walk to get to the main part of the castle.<\/p>\n

From the vantage point of this photo, we had walked from below where the archway is. Visiting these castles is not for anyone with mobility challenges.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_5850<\/a>This castle was the best one we\u2019d seen so far. It is privately owned by the Prince of Prussia, Georg Friedrich, who has only a nominal role as royalty, but is a direct descendant of a long line of Prussian kings.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The family still owns and uses the castle though, and were actually in residence when we were there (signified by the family flag flying above the castle).<\/p>\n

We took a very interesting guided tour through the castle\u2014the only way that you can see the interior\u2014and once again, no photos, but here is a link to photos of inside of this spectacular castle:<\/p>\n

We were allowed photos on the grounds and in the chapel.<\/p>\n
