The thing about baseball fans is that we\u00a0are ever-hopeful. \u00a0Look at the Boston Red Sox fans who finally got their World Series win after how many years? \u00a0The Mariners’ performance has been dismal over the last many years. \u00a0Yet, my friends and I have continued to pay for a slice of a season ticket with really no hope of going to the post season, but with the faint glimmer of hope that some season in the future, we will get there, and when the time comes, we will have our seats. \u00a0That time could be now.<\/p>\n

I am realistic. \u00a0There are big hurdles to overcome to even get to the playoffs. \u00a0They have no real chance to win their division, but if they get a wild card spot, they have one chance to move on. \u00a0Then they have 2 more layers of playoffs to get to the the World Series. \u00a0But, right now, in September, the possibility exists!<\/strong> \u00a0I can hope! In the past several years,\u00a0hope was\u00a0gone by the end of July, and they were playing give young talent a chance, and they were seeing what the veterans would fetch as trade bait.<\/p>\n

But here we are. \u00a0I am going to the game tonight. \u00a0Felix is pitching. \u00a0As usual, he is a Cy Young candidate. \u00a0Fernando Rodney, the closer has the chance tonight to set the Mariners’ all-time save record (he tied it last night). \u00a0If they beat Oakland, the race for the 2nd wild card will become irrelevant to the M’s as they pass Oakland in the race for the first wild card spot. \u00a0On top of that, it is another beautiful fall day and promises to be a lovely night for baseball.<\/p>\n
