This was a very relaxing visit. Although I had some plans for things I had not seen before, having been here before, I didn’t need to cram a bunch of sights in and I can just enjoy the time with Tim and Annalena.
The first Friday I was there, we went into Stockholm for an art exhibit . We took the commuter train and had lunch at one of their favorite restaurants, went to the exhibit and then came home, not trying to do too much on any given day. We tried to get our afternoon naps in on the train, but I had to take a nap when we got back.
The Art Exhibit was really good! Several thousand artists, both professional and amateur, submitted proposals for the exhibit. A jury selected around 300 pieces for display. I walked around and examined the pieces that attracted me most.
Pieces were labeled with a title (in Swedish) and the artist. More importantly each was accompanied with a QR code that linked to a picture and the artist’s description of the work. I used Google Translate extensively on this trip. Although it’s limited in its ability to translate conversations, it worked extremely well to translate the explanations of the art pieces. (It also worked very well for me to translate such things as signs, menus, etc.) I’m including some of my favorite exhibits here. There were many, so I encourage you to look for yourself. To translate, try selecting the text associated with an artist, then right click and click Google Translate. If that doesn’t work, Click on the artist’s link to open their web page, select the text and right click for Google Translate. To see all of the artists, click the link for one of the artists below, then click on the names to the right or left of the art work to scroll to the next piece. NOTE: These images take a minute or two to load, so you may see just a list of names to begin with. Give it a few minutes before you scroll through them.
This work is hypnotic. It’s the only animated one I’m posting here, because the gallery’s website does not show it moving.

Rich, this is amazing! Makes me realize how long I’ve been apart from what’s going on in the art world. My favorite might actually be the first🥰. I kept rooting for those little “ worms”
I could have stood and watched that one for hours! I finally decided I needed to move on to see the rest. I recommend that you go to the website as I described in the post and scroll through all 300+ artists. I don’t remember seeing a lot of them in person.
Great works and all so creative and colorful! Also naps are GOOD!
