The other day, I spent some time showing Gnomey the gardens. Tim has an interesting way of laying out the gardens in a spiral. Starting from the center he can expand the garden by continuing to enlarge the spiral.

Tim works in the garden nearly every day and Annalena works there a lot as well. At this time of year they is preparing the gardens for planting, pruning trees and plants and endless other chores (not chores for them).

Things have changed since our previous trip, including one area encircled by spruce trees and another by cypress trees. The latter will be eventually will become a meditation circle. Gnomey wanted to look it over for its potential, and he approves.

For my Eastern Washington relatives, you’ll be interested to know that outside of Tim’s garden, this is grain country. In spite of the fact that it is about 800 miles further north than Washington, wheat is a major crop here. Also rye, barley, oats, and rapeseed (canola). Tim and Annalena can see this wheat field out their kitchen window. The sprouts were barely showing when I arrived, but have grown several inches since I took the picture.
