We have found that it is much more fun if you have local contacts like you have had. You see things that you never would otherwise – not to mention all the travel tips.
We had two sets a friends in Singapore. We had an old coworker in New Zealand. We had relatives in Paris.
I am working on finding some for my late Fall Burma trip.
Amanda got to be the local expert at the end of her Thailand semester abroad when one of her U of Michigan friends came over to travel with her..
